OUR STORY

Named for the bird that sings over the llanos at dusk.

Alcaraván began as a Sunday grill in a Queens backyard: one family cooking the food of the Colombian and Venezuelan plains for whoever showed up hungry. Twenty years later the fire is on Ninth Avenue, and the table is bigger.

THE ALCARAVÁN TEXT CLUB

First to know when the sancocho is on.

Weekend menu alerts, first word on specials and a heads-up when the grill is lit for something new. Two to four texts a month, never more. Reply STOP any time.

“The picada came out still sizzling and disappeared in five minutes. We ordered a second one for the table.”

“Ordered pickup on my lunch break, paid on my phone and it was ready when I walked in. Best arepa in Midtown.”

Marcus T. · Sample review

“Sancocho on a cold Sunday, exactly like my abuela made it. The staff switched to Spanish without missing a beat.”
